Job Description
Job Summary:
Performs technical and clerical functions in one or more sections of the laboratory.
+ Assists with receiving, identifying, accessioning, processing and transporting specimens.
+ Maintains equipment and adequate stock of supplies.
+ Maintains work area in a safe, aseptic and organized manner.
+ Performs clerical duties which may include but are not limited to answering phones, data entry, and filing.
+ May be responsible for collecting blood specimens for use by clinicians and/or Medical Technologists for clinical analyses, evaluations, and/or diagnostic purposes.
+ At some locations, may initiate registration and test ordering in lab computer systems, including obtaining diagnoses from providers and checking appropriate medical necessity.
+ At some locations, may collect and enter all necessary demographic and insurance information from patients or responsible parties.
+ At some locations, may be responsible for following up with physician office for additional information as needed.
+ At some locations, may be responsible for daily, weekly and monthly system maintenance of laboratory equipment and technical instrumentation and for performing limited Point of Care testing.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
+ Preferred Credential(s):
+ Certification specializing in Phlebotomy.
+ HS or Equivalent
+ High School Diploma or equivalent required
Work Experience:
+ Prior Laboratory experience preferred. Medical Terminology preferred. Phlebotomy and specimen collection/handling experience strongly preferred. Computer and customer service skills preferred.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
