Utilizes product return data to identify, design, validate and implement quality enhancements for a complete range of AC servo drives. Identifies and implements cost saving design opportunities for a complete range of AC servo drives. Analyzes electrical, electro-mechanical circuits or system anomalies, identifies root cause, and implements subsequent design solutions for a complete range of AC servo drives. Identifies the root cause of failures in AC servo drives in customer applications and implements the changes required to improve the product quality and life. Coordinates all aspects of prototype evaluation testing and product qualification testing for a complete range of AC servo drives. Provides electrical engineering support to ensure that Rockwell Automation's AC servo drives achieve their intended product lifecycle. Manages component obsolescence and agency certification updates for a complete range of AC servo drives. Provides electrical engineering support to Rockwell Automation's global manufacturing facilities for complete range of AC servo Drives. Implements product changes to drive manufacturing efficiency and lower cost manufacturing for complete range of AC servo drives. Coordinates engineering changes for a complete range of AC servo drives across global locations that include phase in and phase out of components. Travel required: approximately 5% of time for training and for visiting customers in the event of servo drive field failures.
Required: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and five (5) years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience as an Engineer. In lieu of a Bachelor's degree and five years of experience, the employer will accept a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering and two (2) years of experience as an Engineer. Employer will accept any suitable combination of education, training and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree and five years of experience or a Master's degree and two years of experience. As part of the experience being required, applicants must have had: experience in designing, developing, prototyping and testing PCBs (printed circuit boards) using Schematic capture and other PCB design tools; experience in computer simulation languages, including Matlab/Simulink, Pspice/Orcad, Plecs, Mathcad, and Saber; experience in the design of gate drive circuitry in low voltage drives or AC servo drives; experience in the thermal management protection scheme of low voltage drives or AC servo drives; experience in voltage and current sensing techniques and protection circuitry used in low voltage drives or AC servo drives; experience in performing electrical engineering tasks required to design a variable frequency drive (VFD), including dc-link design, IGBT selection, thermal analysis, gate resistor selection, rectifier selection, motor cable selection, power terminal sizing, electronic soft charge design, and balance circuit design; experience with UL508C 'Power Conversion Equipment' standard and breakdown of component testing; experience in IEC standard for EMC guidelines, including IEC 61000-1, 2, 3 and 4 as well as noise mitigation techniques; experience in testing and qualification of variable frequency converters for CE Low voltage directive (LVD); and experience in quick turn prototyping.
